Nutritional Counseling
Obesity is a common problem among pets, but unfortunately it is a very serious problem for animals, and can cause real health problems as they mature. With proper diet and exercise, we can decrease the risk factor for many common disease processes that occur in our pets. At VVH, we are equipped with the knowledge to help guide you to a proper feeding program to optimize your pet’s health. Whether your pet needs to gain weight, lose weight, or maintain a healthy weight, we are here to help you navigate the wide world of pet nutrition!
Surgery
Here at VVH, we perform many types of small animal soft tissue surgeries, such as spays, neuters, mass removals, amputations, enucleations, and many more! We believe in utilizing the highest level of medical technology and employ these practices in our surgical techniques. Our surgeon and anesthesia technicians are experienced and highly trained, and we take utmost care in handling our hospitalized patients. As pet owners ourselves, we realize that it can be stressful to have your beloved pet undergo surgery and we recognize the importance of communication before, during, and after your pet’s surgery. It is our goal to eliminate the stress and worry of surgical procedures for you and your pet.
Dental Cleanings
Dental health is a major area of overall pet health that we are concerned about in veterinary medicine. Dental disease is one of the leading causes of several other more serious disease processes that we see in our aging pets. At VVH, we perform dental cleanings and extractions, based on the patient’s individual needs. We believe that oral hygiene is a crucial aspect of your pet’s overall well-being.
Vaccinations
Vaccinations are an important part of routine wellness visits for both cats and dogs. There are many diseases which affect our pets, and some that can even be spread from our pets to humans. This makes proper vaccination vital. It’s important to consult with us about the unique risks of living in our region, such as our increased incidence of Lyme disease. We will be happy to discuss the benefits of protecting your pet with vaccinations, as well as, provide you with information on the required vaccinations for your pet.
Microchipping
Every year, thousands of pets go missing. Not knowing where your pet is or how to bring them back home can be a helpless, hopeless feeling. It’s a tragedy that happens all too often. But there is a simple, safe, and effective way to ensure your pet’s safety and retrieval should they ever become lost. Microchipping is a standard procedure that implants a tiny chip underneath your pet’s skin. This microchip is registered with your pet’s vital information, and can be scanned by any veterinarian or animal shelter so that they can return your pet directly to you. At VVH, we are able to do microchipping in house, at any wellness visit.
Preventative Medicine
Yearly, regular exams allow us to establish a baseline in your pet’s health and make us aware of any changes that may indicate future problems. We highly recommend bringing your pet in yearly, at minimum, so that we can ensure they are receiving the care they need. Often times health problems can go undetected by owners at home, and are caught by veterinarians during physical exams. Have peace of mind knowing that your beloved pet has been thoroughly examined each year by their veterinarian.
Diagnostics
Our hospital is equipped with an in- house laboratory, capable of running bloodwork, urinalysis, cytologies, heartworm tests, tick disease tests, and much more. We also have IDEXX digital radiology, ultrasound, and echocardiography capabilities. It is our goal to provide your pet with the highest level of care possible, and our diagnostic tools help us do that.
Pharmacy
We offer a fully stocked pharmacy to fill your pet’s prescription needs. Having an on-site pharmacy provides you with a more convenient way to get your pet’s medication. We hope that this will save you time and ultimately enhance your experience with us. We also have the convenience of an online pharmacy, for those who prefer to order their pet’s medications online and have them shipped directly to their door.
